David Kalmar is a registered psychologist. Carla has a diverse background, having worked in academia/teaching, health and family research, in counselling and therapy, and has been in private practice for a number of years.

Whether you’re going through a rough time in life, are struggling to overcome a traumatic experience, need some support during a life transition, or experiencing another difficult situation, Carla provides a safe space in which to gain support.  She loves to use a range of therapeutic techniques, tailored to each client.  As well as being trained in CBT, ACT, dialectical behaviour therapy and narrative therapy, she likes to incorporate creative art and writing therapies, energy techniques, and mindfulness strategies into sessions where appropriate.

A particular strength of Joe’s is working with teenagers and young adults. Joe has been involved with youth organisations and enjoys the challenge of connecting with teens, getting them motivated to attend sessions, and getting results.

While Joe approaches therapy as a serious endeavour, he also does his best to make the process as enjoyable as possible. The key word for Joe in this work is respect - treating people, regardless ofage, with the respect that we all deserve. Joe deals with a range ofproblems using goal directed therapy which is targeted cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), including depression, anxiety conditions, work-place stress, anger, assertiveness, self-esteem, relationship conflict, and high school issues. He has treated a range of problems using treatment approaches that are classified as cognitive behavioural therapy.

While previously working in the public and private hospital systems, starting at Rozelle Hospital he worked with acutely unwell patients, and a psychiatric rehabilitation unit where he designed a psychiatric rehabilitation model of care and trained staff to implement it.  At St Vincent’sHospital Joe provided psychological treatment, including cognitive behavioural therapy, to medical inpatients and outpatients, and also treated patients inthe psychiatric unit.  Neuropsychological assessments were also undertaken, particularly for neurological patients.  Joe ran an outpatient group at Northside Clinic, helping patients with anxiety and depression post-discharge. Joe has also worked in the corporate world managing business improvement opportunities, with a focus on positive management of change.  His work has also included managing IT projects.

While previously working in the public and private hospital systems, starting at Rozelle Hospital he worked with acutely unwell patients, and a psychiatric rehabilitation unit where he designed a psychiatric rehabilitation model of care and trained staff to implement it.  At St Vincent’sHospital Joe provided psychological treatment, including cognitive behavioural therapy, to medical inpatients and outpatients, and also treated patients inthe psychiatric unit.  Neuropsychological assessments were also undertaken, particularly for neurological patients.  Joe ran an outpatient group at Northside Clinic, helping patients with anxiety and depression post-discharge. Joe has also worked in the corporate world managing business improvement opportunities, with a focus on positive management of change.  His work has also included managing IT projects.

Carla has a diverse background, having worked in academia/teaching, health and family research, in counselling and therapy, and has been in private practice for a number of years.

Whether you’re going through a rough time in life, are struggling to overcome a traumatic experience, need some support during a life transition, or experiencing another difficult situation, Carla provides a safe space in which to gain support.  She loves to use a range of therapeutic techniques, tailored to each client.  As well as being trained in CBT, ACT, dialectical behaviour therapy and narrative therapy, she likes to incorporate creative art and writing therapies, energy techniques, and mindfulness strategies into sessions where appropriate.

Karen values the importance of developing a trusting relationship and takes a person centred, compassionate approach to the work she undertakes. Karen is an accredited mental health social worker who has been working in the mental health field; both public and private settings for approximately 22 years. She has experience working with children and adolescents, having worked as a school counsellor for 11 years. Karen has been operating a private practice for the past 13 years and works with a range of clients with a broad range of presentations, working with both children, adolescents and adults. She utilises a range of evidenced based therapeutic interventions specific to individual needs. David Kalmar is a registered psychologist. With 18 years professional experience in a number of different treatment settings, including drug & alcohol addiction, relationships, and working with youth, he brings a wealth of knowledge and skill to his practice. David also works in a range of consultancy roles with other practices and organisations. David graduated at Sydney University with a BSc, and a Post Grad Dip Psych. He then went on to complete the Post Grad Cert in Psychological Practice at the Australian College of Applied Psychology (ACAP) to become a Registered Psychologist with the NSW Psychologists' Registration Board in 2000. In David's holistic approach as a therapist his intention is to gently guide and support the client to uncover the accumulated layers of unhealthy behaviours, beliefs and defences built up over time, which were once there to protect, yet no longer serve healthy relationships or self love.
